Church of St. Alexander Nevsky

Russian Prince Alexander Nevsky was born in Pereslavl.

He set out from here to do battle with the Swedes in the Neva Estuary in 1240 and with the knights of the German Teutonic Order on Lake Chudskoye in 1242.

His name has not been forgotten. There is a monument to Alexander Nevsky on Krasnaya Square near the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Saviour.

Church of St. Alexander Nevsky was built in 1740-s. It was a part of the monastery which does not exist since 1764.
