Typesetting angular brackets in TeX

In about 3/4 of all mathematical TeX files in which the authors use angular brackets, they typeset them as the signs < (less) and > (greater). This leads to very ugly output.

The correct way to typeset the angular brackets is through the use of the TeX macros \langle and \rangle.
