How to place WWW pages on www.botik.ru
[ Same in Russian:
KOI8 |
CP1251(MS-Windows) |
CP866(DOS) |
ISO8859-5 |
Mac ]
If you don't have an account at www.botik.ru contact
webmaster@botik.ru.
Create the subdirectory www (lower-case letters) in your home directory.
Everything you put in this directory can be accessed on the World Wide Web.
For example, your login name is "user" and
you have page "page.html" into "www" subdirectory.
The URL for this page is http://www.botik.ru/~user/page.html.
Of course, you can create subdirectories in the directory www.
When a URL has only the directory path without file name, the default page
welcome.html or index.html is used.
We run Apache v1.2.4.

Every page in Russian on the server must be in
KOI8-R encoding.
Server software can produce the same pages in other Russian encodings
"on the fly". Possible output encodings are:
- KOI8-R (UNIX)
- ISO-8859-5 (UNIX)
- Microsoft Code Page 1251 (MS-Windows)
- Microsoft Code Page 866 ("Alternativnaya"/DOS)
- Apple Standard Cyrillic (Macintosh)
Pages in English on the server should have ".html" extension and
pages in Russian (KOI8-R encoding) should have ".koi8.html"
extension.
To read pages in other Russian encodings use
special file name extensions for requested pages.
For example, you've created page page.koi8.html and the URL for this page
is http://www.botik.ru/path/page.koi8.html. One can read it also as
- http://www.botik.ru/path/page.iso5.html in ISO-8859-5
- http://www.botik.ru/path/page.win0.html in CP1251 (MS-Windows)
- http://www.botik.ru/path/page.alt0.html in CP866 (DOS)
- http://www.botik.ru/path/page.mac0.html in Apple Std. Cyrillic (Mac)
